The Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, celebrated her 69th birthday in New York last night at a star-studded party which included guests, Smokey Robinson, Bette Midler and Tony Bennett.
Franklin, who has lost 85 pounds since December, looks noticeably thinner, although she denies that the surgical procedure she underwent three months ago was gastric bypass surgery. Really? Are you telling us you can lose 85 pounds in three months in your local Zumba class? Wow.
But hey, however she lost the weight, we're just happy to still have our Queen, especially after a reported life-threatening health scare back in December. At last night's party, former Temp, Dennis Edwards, sang a couple of songs for Franklin, afterwhich she joined him in a duet of "The Way We Were". Oh hell, how much would you have loved to have been in the room to hear that? Umm.
