Shock and Awe

Wow. Less than two hours after we wrote yesterday that Pia was really awful on Wednesday night's "American Idol", she was eliminated from the show. Thank you. But the critical brain-trust that are the judges, Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson were shocked and appalled. Shocked. And. Appalled. Tears, even.

Yes, Tyler, J-Lo and Jackson were shocked that a moderately talented white girl who sang snoozy ballad after snoozy ballad and who finally broke out the "funk" to sing a Miss America-version of a soul classic, which ended up sounding like Laura Bush doing Snoop Dogg, was rejected by the American public. (Of course the woman who foisted on America something called "Jenny From The Block" would like someone like Pia.)

Jesus H. Christ. Would someone please help "American Idol" save itself from itself by getting Simon Cowell back on the show as soon as humanly possible? Please, we're begging you.
