Why Can't We Have This?

When we watched the Bafta Awards the other night, (blog posts below), we didn't recognize the host, Jonathan Ross, who happens to be one of Britain's most famous comedians and t.v. performers. Since 2003 he's hosted the tremendously popular "Friday Night with Jonathan Ross" on BBC which is so naughty and so funny, it begs one to question, "Why in God's name can we not have television like that in America?" The wit and cheeky humor of Jonathan Ross makes Leno, Letterman and O'Brien look like dead corpses by comparison.

Ross got into some trouble in 2008. In February of last year he caused an uproar by making a lewd offer to Gwyneth Paltrow, which you can see at YouTube, (

The last episode, which became known as "Sachsgate", caused an uproar in England, and Ross was suspended without pay for three months from the BBC. His hosting of the Bafta Awards was his first appearance at the BBC since his suspension, and even then, he was required to meet with BBC censors for several days to go over his pre-written Bafta speech to make sure there was nothing offensive in it.
