A Sad Day in Sports is Getting Sadder

Yesterday we wrote about Alex Rodriguez's admission of steroid use, and now, Houston Astros shortstop Miguel Tejada has been charged with lying to Congress about his own steroid use. Tejada will appear in court on Wednesday where he is expected to plead guilty, and could face as much as a year in jail. Tejada won the 2002 American League Most Valuable Player award and is a five-time All-Star.

As we mentioned with the Rodriguez confession, at this point, no one is really surprised that the players used steroids, about the only thing that catches our notice, now, is which players admit it and which ones continue to lie about it. This scandal is only just now getting started, and before it's all over, it will ruin the lives and athletic careers of a lot of people, and will go a long way towards changing the way we view our professional athletes forever.
.
UPDATE-Feb. 11: As it turns out, Miguel is not being charged for lying about his own steroid use, although many believe he did use them, but rather for lying when asked about other players' use of the banned substances.
