Hannah Kearney took the first gold medal for the U.S. tonight in the Women's Moguls event. Shannon Bahrke took the bronze medal in the same event.

Also tonight Apolo Anton Ohno took the silver medal in the 1500 Meters Short Track event, tying him with Bonnie Blair as the most decorated U.S. Winter Olympian with six medals total. J.R. Celski took the bronze medal in the same event.
After the first day of competition, the U.S. leads the Games' medal count with 4 total medals.
