We've written a lot about how the Republican Party is increasingly becoming irrelevant to modern American as its fringe wing gains more and more control of the organization. But we hope they never go away, because as Kathy Griffin said recently, "The Republicans are like a gift that just keeps on giving!"
On Wednesday morning, California State Senator Republican Roy Ashburn was arrested at 2:00 a.m. for DUI. He was driving a state-owned vehicle and had just left the Sacramento gay bar, Faces. Okay, that's it, enough with the Republican hypocrisy. The Republicans talk about fiscal conservatism and constantly berate Pres. Obama for recklessly spending taxpayer dollars, and then, there goes Asburn driving a state-owned vehicle for his own use. We've had enough! When will the hypocrisy end?
Oh... wait a minute. There might be something more to this story. Something else a little more glaringly obvious. Yes, that's it, a law and order Republican who breaks the law by drinking and driving. Right.
What? No? Something else? We don't know... we mean... what? Oh! Could it be that State Sen. Ashburn is an anti-gay homophobe who has consistently voted against every gay measure in the California State Senate, including Recognizing Out-of-State Same-Sex Marriages, Harvey Milk Day and expanding anti-disrimination laws, all the while maintaining a secret life as a cocksucker? You're right, that could be the story here.
Don't you just love the Republicans? Please, oh god, please, don't ever go away!
