Oh, If Only All Women Could Look as Good as Sarah Palin

Sen. David Vitter, (R-La), was caught making a joke about MSNBC journalist Rachel Maddow's looks. In a Louisiana radio interview this week, Vitter joked with his interviewer that Maddow didn't look like a woman. Someone in the press fired back, "Maybe Vitter doesn't know what a real woman looks like because he's only used to seeing women who he pays to have sex with." Doh! Good one. The anonymous replier was referring to the fact that in 2007 Sen. Vitter had to publicly admit that he had frequented the services of a well known D.C. madam.

First, we don't give a flying fickle finger of fate what Rachel Maddow looks like. If we had more journalists with her courage and smarts, we might not have found ourselves so easily fooled in the past by The Two Twins of Terror, George Bush and Dick Cheney. Maddow is one of the few mainstream journalists who has the guts to ask the tough questions, point blank, without blinking. Check out our recent post about her trip to Afghanistan by going to the right of this page, to the Labels list, and clicking on "Politics - Afghanistan". And second, it's especially telling that a Republican senator would make a joke about a woman's looks, considering that so many political insiders suspect that the major reason why Sarah Palin is so popular with Republican men is because she's so physically attractive. Either that, or they admire her SAT scores.
