Killer Queen

Oscar nominated Peter Morgan, the screenwriter of "The Last King of Scotland", "Frost/Nixon" and "The Queen", is reportedly writing a script about the rock group, Queen, which will chronicle their beginnings and rise to success. And who has been tapped to play the iconic lead singer Freddie Mercury? Sacha Baron Cohen, better known for his roles as Ali G, Borat and Bruno, has either been given the role or is in serious consideration for the role, depending on which report one reads.
.
Many are already wondering if Cohen can do justice to a portrayal of one of the greatest rock singers of all time. There is no way he'll be able to sing like Freddie Mercury, no one can do that, but Cohen can certainly look similar to Mercury, and more importantly, he can "inhabit Mercury". Mercury was a highly theatrical, very physical performer, and those traits are Cohen's strengths as an actor. We're intrigued, and we'll be watching. We think Cohen can do it.
