Reality Round-Up II

.
While Christine O'Donnell and Sarah Palin might be sucking up all the air in the room when it comes to the race for who can rightfully be called the dumbest person in America, they have some stiff competition from Nick and Vicki on "The Amazing Race". We told you a couple of weeks ago that while in England, Vicki had never heard of Stonehenge, and that she thought she was in the "country of London", but Nick proved that he could hold his own with his girlfriend in a battle of wits when the couple got into a taxi cab in Ghana, and Nick told the driver to take them to the Artic Circle. Oh my.

.But even more fun than dumb people on reality shows are the evil villains. And they don't get much more evil than the arrogant, ego-obsessed Gretchen on "Project Runway". "PR" is down to the final four contestants, and in a perfect example of kharma taking its revenge, Gretchen has to compete against Michael, who she earlier dubbed as someone who couldn't sew and who didn't deserve to be on the show. Tonight the final four compete to make the final cut of designers who will show their collections at New York's Fashion Week, and we can't wait to see if the fireworks fly between the evil Gretchen and the cry-baby Michael.
. .
But if you think Gretchen wears a cast-iron bra, she has nothing on Brenda on "Survivor", who last night emerged as not only one of the most evil "black widows" of all time, but who showed that she's clearly controlling the fate of the contestants. We just said a few days ago that "Survivor" had grown stale this year, and that maybe the show was past its prime, but we'd like to take that back now. The show just needed someone that America could love to hate, and Brenda happily stepped into that role. She engineered the elimination of Kelly B. because Brenda ruthlessly surmised that in a final showdown between herself and Kelly B., Kelly B. would garner more sympathy votes from being an amputee victim. Brenda then set about to eliminate Marty, just in case her Kelly B. plan didn't happen, and sure enough, in the first round of voting, Marty and Kelly B. tied with four votes each. In a vote-off, Kelly B. got the boot. But now the show should really get interesting, because in making such a bold move, Brenda has exposed herself, and Marty will be gunning hard for that target freshly painted on her back.
.
.
And to come full circle, "Survivor" also has a contestant whose I.Q. is smaller than his shoe size. The male model, Jud, who the other contestants have dubbed as "Fabio", believed Marty when Marty told a story of defeating the "grand chess master", Guillermo Vilas. There's only one problem with that story, Vilas was a famous tennis champion in the 1970's. Marty chuckled with glee at how gullible and uninformed the youngsters were, but then almost made the biggest "Survivor" mistake of all time: being voted off while holding an immunity idol in his pocket. Now who's dumb, Marty?
.
Our prediction: Watch for "Benry", who's smart, likable and is currently flying under the radar. A winning combination for "Survivor".
