Eggs, Who?

Just a few days ago we mentioned our sadness over the death of Eggs in the Louisiana town of Bontemps, and we weren't sure we were going to find a reason to keep watching the people he left behind. We're talking, of course, about HBO's hit drama, "True Blood". But after last night's episode, we're asking ourselves, "Eggs, who?" Last night we got our first really good look at the werewolf Alcide, played by actor Joe Manganiello. In the opening scene, Alcide was shirtless, and as he walked around the room, we were... well, let's just say all other thoughts that might have been in our heads quickly disappeared. Manganiello, who was previously best known for roles on "One Tree Hill" and "How I Met Your Mother" mentioned in an interview that he thought he should get ripped for his role on "True Blood". Well, he did, and we couldn't be happier. Alcide is a werewolf who has become Sookie's bodyguard, and we don't know where his plotline will take him, but he's supposed to be in at least seven episodes, so we'll soon see.

"True Blood" was just nominated for an Emmy Award for Oustanding Drama, but we're not sure if it really deserved the nod. Although it's one of our favorite shows, it has suffered from late from really erratic writing and crazy plotlines. The first season was great, but that second season, oh my... that whole thing about the anciet beast lady turning the whole town into sex-crazed orgy-goers, please Alan Ball, you really could have, and should have, done better than that. We hope someone rescues the writing for "True Blood" soon before it becomes a ridiculous parody of itself.

But irregardless of where the show is going in the future, for now we're more than happy to watch the shirtless antics of Alcide and the other mega-muscular biker werewolves. Speaking of which,
if Alcide doesn't melt your butter, then spend some time down at Lou Pine's Bar, and you might become a fan of Cooter, the werewolf who's currently banging Alcide's ex. Cooter is played by Grant Bowler, who was previously seen on "Ugly Betty".
