2009 Baftas - 9:30 pm

(emma watson)

A very pretty and grown-up Emma Watson of "Harry Potter" fame gives "Benjamin Button" the award for Visual Effects. Yawn.
.
Goldie Hawn comes out to give the award for Supporting Actor. Hey, we love Goldie, and this hurts us to say this, but she was bulging out of her too-tight, black satin dress in all the wrong places. Spanks, Goldie, they're called Spanks. Use them.
.

Heath Ledger won the Supporting Actor Award. Sorry, but we think posthumous awards are a cop-out. Goldie cried when she announced his name, the guy who accepted Ledger's award was moved, Brad Pitt furrowed his brow in the audience watching the guy give the acceptance speech, cut to audience: everyone looks very, very sad. Great, but is an actor's tragic death a reason to give that actor a major acting award? It's just not right somehow.
.
They rolled the film montage of dead people, and strangely, unlike with the American audience at the Oscars, no one applauded or cheered. How in the hell, then, are we supposed to know who we liked and didn't like. Damn those shallow British actors!
.
We're going back to the Grammys.
