Happy 52nd birthday to Madonna. She burst onto the scene in the early 80's with a couple of minor hits; at the time we thought she'd be forgotten as quickly as any other throw-away teen pop star. But now, thirty years later, we think we can admit we were wrong about her. She's proven herself to be a very smart businesswoman over and over again, and for someone who readily admits that she doesn't have a strong singing voice, she's racked up 37 Top Ten hits, 12 of those going to #1. That's a staggering accomplishment..
Madonna made the news last week when actress Sofia Vergara, of ABC's sitcom, "Modern Family", took a shot at the famous middle-aged mother of two. In an interview with Esquire Magazine, Vergara said, speaking about women in Hollywood who get plastic surgery, "That thing with the cheeks. Like Madonna. Who do they think they're fooling? It doesn't make them look young. You end up looking like a freak." Me-ow.

.Yes, some people overdo plastic surgery, but when we read Vergara's comments, we couldn't help but think how easy it is for a 38 year-old woman without a wrinkle on her face to take a shot at a 52 year-old woman who has begun to age. Trust us, Sofia, aging does a lot of evil things to people between the ages of 38 and 52; Vergara, your time is coming. We'll see what you think about plastic surgery in 14 years when you're 52.
