Heidi Klum Kicks Michaele Salahi's Ass

Two days ago we mentioned that two powerful season premieres were going head to head against each other, the debut of "The Real Housewives of DC" and season 8 of "Project Runway". We actually thought "DC" would kick some ass in the ratings, thanks to the dust up on "The View" between Whoopie Goldberg and DC Housewife, White House Party Crasher, Michaele Salahi. But we got a surprise, the DC Housewives only attracted 1.628 million viewers while the Runway scored 2.625 viewers. Another highly anticipated show which premiered on Thursday night, "On The Road with Austin and Santino", featuring two "Project Runway" alums, scored almost as many viewers the Housewives, with 1.080 viewers. The biggest cable winner for the night, though, was the USA Network's "Burn Notice", which attracted 5.687 viewers, beating even "The Jersey Shore". We've loved "Burn Notice" from the very beginning, and with those numbers, it looks like the show will be around for awhile.

On Friday, many t.v. critics were trying to come up with reasons as to why "The Real Housewives of DC" proved to be so unpopular with viewers. Some tried to even make a connection between the current low approval ratings of Congress with and the fact that anything associated with Washington, D.C. would be similarly viewed. But we're guessing that's a stretch, after all, t.v. is not rocket science. We've be saying it for awhile now, the whole "Housewives" thing is getting old, fast. Americans can only stomach trash t.v. for so long before they tire of it and move on. And Bravo has been playing a dangerous game, running episodes of their "Housewives" series ad nauseum, sometimes literally 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Stupid, catfighting women are fun, as delicious as chocolate ice cream, but like trying to eat chocolate ice cream every day, sooner or later, one day you're going to want some vanilla.

Clash of the Titans

But let's leave all the talk of ignorant homophobes behind for awhile and discuss something a little more fun: T.V. is back! After weeks and weeks of boring summer t.v., tonight's t.v. schedule features the premieres of three new shows which have definitely captured our attention.

The new season of Project Runway starts tonight, and at the exact same time is the premiere of "The Real Housewives of DC". We're definitely not fans of the Bravo Network's "Housewives" series, not that we don't like trash t.v., but there is a limit to even what we can stomach. But we have to admit, after the recent dust-ups between the DC cast member, Michaele Salahi, (the infamous White House "Party Crasher"), and the cast of "The View", we're wondering just how crazy this bitch might actually be. We might even tune into the show at some point to see. During her appearance on "The View" this week, she became verbally combative with Joy and Sherri, but that was nothing compared to the incident which came to light the next day. Evidently, Whoopi tapped her on the arm at some point during the show, and now, Salahi is accusing Whoopi of "hitting" her. And Whoopi didn't take it well, describing on today's show that she had "choice words" for Salahi and her husband after the alleged incident yesterday. Don't you just know the programmers over at Bravo are simply creaming in their pants?

But as we mentioned, the DC Housewives have to go up directly against the season premiere of Project Runway. It's a t.v. "Clash of the Titans", but we'll have to wait til tomorrow to see who wins this epic battle of the ratings.

But even with all of the heavy breathing over the Housewives and the Project Runwayer's, there is another show which is premiering tonight which we're actually the most excited about. It hasn't gotten a lot of attention or pre-premiere publicity, but we're betting it's going to be a whole hell of a lot of fun. We're talking about the new Lifetime show, "On the Road with Austin and Santino". Austin and Santino are former Project Runway contestants, and we absolutely love them both. They're complete opposites, Austin is quiet and classicly effeminate while Santino is loud, boistrous and funny as hell. But they're both loaded with real talent, and the show takes them on the road across America to design clothing for odd and quirky people they meet along the way. Tonight they design an outfit for Sadie Lynn, a cowgirl trick rider. Oh. My. God. We can't wait.
